The West is Greco-Roman not Judeo-Christian!
In a country full of bible thumpers, bible worshippers and history ignoramuses where the Jews control the media it is easy to pass the canard of the Jewish entity in occupied Palestine as “our friends” and sharing “our values”.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Even the bellicose and belligerent Republicans that are running the USA (as repugnant as they are) are not bulldozing the house of Tim McVeigh’s parents, targeting assassinations of their opponents, using (and abusing) informants nor jailing indefinitely people they dislike. Torture and missiles fired in crowded settings like the Israelis they may do, though.
Historically it is forgotten how the Roman Empire, a far wiser and abler hegemonic power (not taking one side for a very long time is key to maintain hegemonic power. The Divide et Impera dictum) found it necessary to destroy the Jewish temple in Jerusalem and disperse the delusional Jews after putting up for more than 70 years with open rebellion, gossip and innuendo of impending doom and the arrival of a Messiah. Is this any different from today?
The Romans carried out the Diaspora, the wise, sane and humane solution to Jewish delusions and it was the best thing that ever happened to the myth-believing Jews. Why they chose to go back to that (un)Holy Land beats me. Why undo it?
If soaking up Jewish propaganda is OK for some in the West, I do not wish to commit ideological and cultural suicide to the Judeo-Christian oxymoron.
The legacy of democracy, rule of law, civil engineering and all things that made the West great are Greco-Roman. Things like gravitas, pietas, caritas and ethics. Our beliefs were ecumenical (witness the Roman Catholic Church ease in absorbing local deities through the ruse of saints) not the vengeful, an eye for an eye YWHW of the Jewish Bible (and don't forget the silliness of the first few commandments so self serving for this YWHW god - The sure signs of an inferiority complex?). Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, Virgil’s Aenid were our literature. Plato and Aristotle our philosophers. Euclid's Geometry the beginning of our science. Zeno, Diogenes, Seneca and Cicero our conscience. Plutarch wrote the lives of our heroes. Cincinnatus and Marcus Aurelius were our statesmen.
Not Abraham, the swindler chased from town to town, who pimped his wife Sarah to Pharaoh.
Not Moses, the foundling who wouldn't be pharaoh, did he even exist? Ramses II remains can still be seen, Moses whither art thou?
Not Joseph who couldn't afford a decent coat until he became an early and ultimate "inside trader".
Not David, the shepherd who became king of the Jews because he played the flute and lusted after Bathsheba enough to kill her husband. It doesn't take much to be king of the Jews or please this YWHW god, does it?
Not Esther, the concubine to the King of Persia who saved her tribe. I wonder what her specialty was. Such moral values!
The Bible as a Land Title in the Promised Land of Milk and Honey. What a laughable position.
If Cato were alive today he would cry out “Usque tandem abutere, Judea, patientia nostra?” and for sure “Delenda est Judea.”
The Holocaust? The Greco-Roman world has a name for it: Nemesis! Only this time in reverse, the sins of the sons were visited on the parents. And Don't forget "hubris" to put down the overachieving ambitions of a tribe whose numbers were never enough to count for much.
