The Emperor Manuel II Paleologos and Pope Benedict XVI
Why drag in the Emperor Manuel II Paleologos as pope Benedict XVI did to showcase Islam's violent irrationality when leaving aside the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition, we can mention the more recent massacres of German peasants in the struggle between Catholics and Martin Luther's Protestant followers in the very same Germany of Benedict XVI (to say nothing of St Bartholomew's night in France)?
Methinks all religions based on a "divine revelation" a la Judaism (Christianity, ISLAM, Mormonism, etc..) are all equally putrid in their bellicose affirmation of their sole truth.
Didn't the Emperor Constantine make Christianity the Roman state religion with the Edict of Milan in 313 AD after having won the battle of Pons Milvius (In Hoc Signo Vincit)? What is the difference from a conquering Islam?
