A certain American chronology

A nation born of fire (the War of Independence) always thinks of war instead of diplomacy to resolve conflicts. Up to now luck has been on her side.

In a non historical attempt and in base of my memory, here is the chronology of armed interventions by the United States of America.

1770's – War of Independence
1798-1800 – Hostilities with France
1812 – War with England
1800 - 1900 – Indian wars
1805 – The Tripoli, Libya affair (..to the shores of Tripoli - From the hymn of the US Marines)
1848 – War with Mexico (The USA learned that superior weapons can win wars: 6 shooter colts versus single shot muskets. Manifest Destiny here we come.)
1853 – The Perry expedition to Japan
1860-1865 – Civil war
1893 - Rape of Hawaii
1898 – War with Spain (The USA is now a colonial power, Guam, the Philippines, Puerto Rico are acquired.)
1904 - Panama is "liberated" from Columbia. The Panama canal can be built.
1902-1907 - Rape of the Philippines
1903-1907 - Occupation of Cuba
1917-1918 – WWI
1918-1920 – Expedition to Russia (AEF)
1920's – Gangster wars
194? – Nicaragua involvement
1940's – WWII
1948-19?? – Cold War
1950's – Korean War
1953 – CIA plot in Iran. Operation Ajax, Prime Minister Mohammed Mossadegh is overthrown and the Shah is back.
1960's – Vietnam War
1965 - The Dominican Republic putsch and overthrow of Juan Bosch
1973 – The Yom Kippur War, the USA rescued Israel with massive shipments of materiel and intelligence humiliating Egypt and Syria in the process.
1973 – CIA plot in Chile. President Salvador Allende is killed.
1979-1989 – The Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the USA helped, armed and trained Islamic fundamentalists (the mujahideens were friends then).
1980's – Central America involvement (the Contra wars?)
1980-now – War on drugs
1983 - Invasion of Grenada
1989 – Invasion of Panama
1991 – Gulf War
2002 – now - War on Terror (Afghanistan, Iraq and everywhere else)
